Maurice Gustave Duruflé was a French composer, musicologist, teacher, and organist (at Notre Dame Cathedral.) He published only a handful of works and often continued to edit and change pieces after publication. In 1947, he finished composing his most famous piece, the Requiem Op. 9, for soloists, choir, organ, and orchestra. The ninth movement “In Paradisum” is my favorite.
