FEBRUARY 10, 2025

Good morning! I am writing to the whole group because many people asked why they weren’t getting my action alerts. (I sent one out for inauguration day.) I had requested that people let me know if they wanted to remain on the list, but that wasn’t clear. So. . . I will continue to send to the whole group and if you do NOT want to receive these messages, please let me know. I will not be offended!

An onslaught of shocks are delivered daily, none of them a surprise, but shocks, nevertheless. Like many resisters, I’ve been reluctant to be pulled into the media frenzy that is feeding on these shocks. I am bewildered about how to take action. But I know I must take action and I hope to inspire you to do so as well. Today I am using Jessica Craven’s newsletter Chop Wood Carry Water. It is a list of positive results from the actions of resisters. They have given me hope and more importantly, determination. Later this week I’ll send information about actions to take for specific issues.

For those of you not living in the Northeast we have received the gift of magic—a sugarcoat of snow reminding us that we need to feast on nature’s bountiful beauty to mitigate the ugliness of politics. Claude Debussy wrote the Children’s Corner, a collection of piano pieces for his three-year-old daughter. When I studied the collection as a young pianist my parents gave me this recording by Ivan Moravec. It remains my favorite. Here is The Snow is Dancing from the Children’s Corner. I hope you enjoy it.
