Domenico Scarlatti, (1685-1757) was hired to teach Portuguese Princess Maria Barbara and remained in her service when she later became Queen of Spain. She must have been quite talented as evidenced from the 550+ Sonatas he composed for her. I was privileged to study with Anthony Di Bonaventura, beloved professor of piano at Boston University, and the pianist in this recording.
