Good afternoon! I want to share this opportunity with you. The Chicago Poetry Center is offering free online “Critical Conversations: Anti-Racism sessions.” Using poetry, two trained and racially diverse facilitators will lead discussions of contemporary poems, sharing of personal experiences, and guided writing practice centered on racial justice. Two types of sessions will be offered: Belonging & Inclusion, and The Continuum of Harm. Participants are encouraged to register for one of each session, which take place over Zoom. No prior poetry experience or education is needed!

If you’ve already filed your taxes celebrate with this flue concerto. If you haven’t filed yet, I hope the music will calm any frantic preparations 🙂  Betty

And now the music:
Cécile Chaminade (1857 –1944) was a French composer and pianist. Her father forbade her from studying music at the Paris Conservatory but allowed private tutors. She gave recitals of her compositions under the auspices of her professor and later toured Europe and the United States. In 1913, she was awarded the Légion d’Honneur, a first for a female composer. This flute concerto is one of her most popular works.
