Good morning!
I am excited to share with you that one of our members (and dear friend) Scott Ferson, has authored a must-read book, How the Democrats Lost America: Making Sense of the 2024 Election and the Future of American Politics which will be released on April 7th! Scott’s detailed and visual writing invites you into the diners where he conducted thousands of interviews and uncovered a larger problem facing our democracy: a profound disconnect with voters in general, particularly those who don’t hug both coasts or live in select big cities in between. These everyday voters can be lost and forgotten, or lost and found. How the Democrats Lost America offers us a way forward. You can buy it on Amazon, Bookshop.org, or through your local bookstore.
A little bit about Scott:
Scott Ferson served as press secretary and Massachusetts Issues Director for the late Senator Edward M. Kennedy and has played key roles in electing U.S. Representatives Seth Moulton and Stephen Lynch and Senator Ed Markey (all Democrats-MA). He founded Liberty Square Group in 1999, one of the most prominent public relations firms in New England. In 2013 he founded The Blue Lab, a political incubator for Democratic candidates running for office at the local, state and federal level. You can read more here.
If you haven’t had the privilege of a live conversation with Scott, you’ll find his humorous, savvy, and down-to-earth personality in his book.

And now the music:
Aaron Copland (1900-1990) was an American composer, critic, writer, teacher, pianist, and conductor. His music evokes the vast American landscape, the pioneer spirit and the valuable contributions of Americans, regardless of their societal status and wealth. Here is “Fanfare for the Common Man” by Aaron Copland, conducted by Leonard Bernstein with the composer in the audience.
